NCOP Oversight Mechanism

The NCOP has programmes such as its Taking Parliament to the People program and it’s Provincial Week, in compliance with its constitutional obligations to (among other) facilitate public participation in law-making.

NCOP Taking Parliament to the People

Annually, the full complement of the NCOP, in partnership with the provincial legislatures, sits away from Parliament in Cape Town for a period of one week. The program is predominantly taken to people in rural areas of the country, to raise challenges relating to service delivery.

NCOP Provincial Week

The NCOP Provincial Week is a vehicle through which the NCOP seeks to realise its mandate of conducting effective oversight on matters affecting provinces. The NCOP Provincial Week provides an opportunity for Permanent Delegates to return to their provinces and meet with both provincial and local government leaders regarding service delivery in their areas.
